A middle aged woman who was a resident of Palm Beach County, was hurt at work in Miami, Florida in 1985 at a now defunct airline in what was classified as an “industrial accident”ÿ where she tripped over a box on the floor covering an electrical receptacle, sustained long term injuries to her left and right arm, left and right shoulder, neck, back, both wrists and carpal tunnel, ultimately requiring surgery in 1991, found to be at maximum medical improvement (MMI) in 1994 with a 9% impairment rating. However, she had an extended period of difficulty working with and obtaining benefits from the airline’s/employer’s worker’s compensation insurer. Through the efforts of of-counsel worker’s compensation counsel, she was able to settle her case for $400,000.00 in 2005.
